The Macallan ships fresh American oak across thousands of miles to Spain, Spain uses traditional hand-made oak barrels, and after moistening the barrels with Oloroso sherry, these American oak sherry barrels are shipped back to the distillery in Scotland to mature the new wine for at least twelve years. It is then based on Spanish oak sherry barrels and American oak sherry barrels that have matured to perfection, perfectly integrating the charming characteristics of the two sherry barrels.
Nose: Light butterscotch, caramel apple, ripe orange, vanilla and fresh oak.
Taste: Ginger, nutmeg and woody spices, accompanied by citrus, tartar, raisins and oak resin.
Aftertaste: The aftertaste is warm, sweet, and the aroma of oak lingers for a long time.
