Ekaijima Shuzo became the first company in Japan to obtain a whiskey brewing license in 1919 , is one of the few comprehensive wineries that can produce whiskey, sake, shochu, wine, plum wine, brandy and other types of alcoholic beverages. Its distillery in Kobe is called White Oak, and it is one of the few whiskey distilleries in Japan close to the sea. While the Japanese whiskey factory was under construction, it remained small and exquisite.
This whiskey was matured in barrels that once held sherry, and these barrels were later used to hold shochu. Therefore, it can now be called the cask that once held sherry, sweet potato shochu, and whiskey! After three years in the barrel, the whiskey is sweet and spicy, with a hint of peat and a "subtle hint of sweet potato shochu" on the nose. On the palate, it is bitter and dry, but at the same time soft and clean.
