Old Pulteney is recognized by seasoned whisky enthusiasts as one of the best and most unique single malt Scotch whiskies in the world. As a world-renowned high-quality whisky, Old Pulteney is rooted in tradition and heritage, representing the maritime style of single malt whisky with a hint of sea salt flavor. The Old Pulteney distillery was founded by Mr. James Henderson in 1826 and named after the family surname of Sir William Johnstone Pulteney, a Member of Parliament and Governor of the British Fisheries Society at that time.
Located in the town of Wick at the northern tip of the northeast coast of Scotland, Old Pulteney is even further north than Moscow by 3 degrees. Wick was once known for its fishing and whisky industries, producing silver herring and golden whisky, earning the reputation of being an industry with both silver and gold. Over the years, the local fishing industry declined, and Pulteney experienced ups and downs but fortunately stood the test of time, remaining resilient and renowned in the whisky world for its commitment to traditional craftsmanship. In 1995, Pulteney was acquired by Inver House Distillers Ltd. and renamed Old Pulteney.
